Spring Hunt Test Is Coming Up!

It’s almost time for Sand & Sage Retriever Club’s annual spring hunt test in Othello, WA. It will be an action packed weekend where dog owners and handlers come together in rural Eastern Washington, along with their
retrievers, to brave the chill of spring. There will more than likely be some wind, some rain, and probably even a few ticks! (Arghh!!) But even so, I am very excited to be returning again to photograph the enthusiastic, gorgeous and intelligent retrievers. Their skill and athleticism is amazing to witness, and the hard work and training their handlers have invested into them is quite evident.

In September of 2018, I came away from the fall hunt test with thousands of beautiful photographs which are available for viewing in a separate online photo gallery

I’m a little late to the party, but I finally put some of my favorites from last autumn’s Sand & Sage AKC hunt test to video. I photographed this event near Othello, WA over a beautiful autumn weekend. I am really looking forward to the next hunt test coming up in April of 2018.

White-Tailed Deer In A Montana Cherry Orchard

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could go no further than just a few steps outside your front door to see beautiful creatures such as these white-tailed deer? Well maybe not, if you’re a gardener. As a photographer though, I was happy to see these young bucks and does deer roaming nearby on a beautiful autumn day in Montana, just off the shore of Flathead Lake where I was visiting family.

Sweet Dream Piglets

The theme of the Benton-Franklin fair this year is “Best Week Of Summer”. It looked to me that these cute piglets at Old MacDonald’s barn were having THEIR best week of summer while napping together. That all ended in a hurry though as soon as their mamma strolled by, bursting with milk. For the next few moments, it was pandemonium and survival of the fittest. Note the three barely visible piglets at the bottom of the pile. I’m not sure how they manage to avoid suffocation in that position, but it didn’t seem to phase them one bit.

It’s A Dog’s Life

DOGS — Big one, little ones, pure bred, mixed breed, fat, skinny, fluffy, fast or slow. I haven’t met one I didn’t like yet. I have two of my own — a red heeler mix cattle dog and a mini-schnauzer. They make quite the pair. Not a day in my life goes by that they don’t brighten it up in one way or another. If you are a dog lover, I know that you know exactly what I mean by that.
